Celebrate!

Friday means time for Celebrations! Learn to celebrate the small things. A blog hop hosted by Scribblings of An Aspiring Author. Sign up!

This week I'm celebrating:

* I've been asked to be the guest speaker at a Youth Empowerment Seminar tomorrow. Basically I'll be providing some career guidance to teens as well as motivating them to pursue their dreams. I'm pretty excited because it's my first time doing something like this. I just hope I am able to keep my audience intrigued lol.

* I was on time for work this entire week! This is a big deal for me because I battle to wake up on time. Definitely not a morning person. So I decided to sleep earlier and leave my alarm far from my bed so I'm forced to wake up. I must say, its working pretty well so far! I'm proud :)

* Finally the weekend has arrived! It's been a stressful week and I'm looking forward to getting some family time in.

Have a great weekend. Be safe always '

Celebratethe Small Things

Celebrate the Small Things

Friday has finally arrived and it's time for "Celebrate The Small Things", a bloghop hosted by Viklit from Scribblings Of An Aspiring Author. Each week people from all over the world share about the things they are celebrating for the week. Big or small, if it made you happy, share it. Sign up!
This week I'm celebrating:

 1. It's been a while since I've had time to post. So I'm celebrating the fact that my life isn't as busy anymore!
2. I've been doing some writing, below you will see a piece that I've written. Very rough draft, still think I need to add more emotion into it. However, in my defense, I did write it in a few minutes.
3. I am glad I got the chance to live through the entire week. I've been hearing so many stories of people who never made it home to their families. I'm just grateful that a week has gone by and my family and I are still safe and in one piece. It's not our time yet lol.

Have a great weekend! Hope you make it home safely to your family... Just in case.... Appreciate the little things in life.

Secret Weapon

I never considered myself to be a push over. The thought never once crossed my mind. What type of idiot allows other people's problems to determine their happiness.

I've got a back bone! I can stand up for myself! I don't need anyone to give me anything!

HA! How I wish...

I never had a back bone, only because you broke it. I never could stand up for myself, only because you kicked me while I was down. I could never give myself the things I wanted, only because you made sure I looked too ugly to find a job.

But I can't possibly blame you for where I find myself. I saw it coming.

From the days when we were just boyfriend and girlfriend trying to find love in the most unexpected ways, I noticed things about you that I didn't like. Yet I done nothing. I noticed how you would make side comments about the way I dressed, the way you would get jealous everytime I had to work late, the way you would grip my arm so tightly everytime I stepped out of line in public. Should I have left you then?

Or how about the time you threw me out of our house for having a puff of a cigarette? Or the time you got so drunk that you forced me to have sex with you in the bathroom of a disease infested pub? Or the time you forced me to starve myself for a week so that I could lose a few pounds?

Maybe I should've left you when I discovered the used condoms laying in our bedroom? Or the time I found a sex video of you and your ex girlfriend, taken with my video camera? Perhaps the time that you choked me against the wall for answering your phone, shattering my collar bone?

I should have left you now. After you beat me continuously for falling pregnant...

But I didn't... I'm still here. But it's only because I've got something special for you. While I will be in fields of flowers, wearing flowing dresses and enjoying the sun, I will give you something that will remind you of me everyday of your bitter and insignificant life!

Everytime you look at yourself in the mirror you will cry at the hand that karma has dealt you. You will relive the moments, play by play, in your head! You will try to find something or someone to comfort you, but nothing will work. No one will want to be with you, especially after you've been introduced to my secret weapon.

Useless piece of shit.... Meet AIDS!

FUTURE

Nothing can come close, to this familiar feeling.

The feeling of his strong, rough hands gripping me tightly, those soft yet fiery and passionate kisses on my lips, with his craving breath against my neck.

Whispers of uncontrollable and eternal love floating in the air, dreams of a family and a future seem within reach now.

My stomach knots, with bittersweet thoughts of him. Reliving the pain is easy but it’s the pleasure that keeps me up at night! He was supposed to be my everything… yet I turned out to be his nothing.

I wonder if he loves her the same way he pretended to love me? I cringe when I think about whether he will love his child that develops ever so innocently within my hostile body.

One Day...

Ever had that feeling?

That feeling like you've lost something? Only you realise that you never had it to begin with?

Human nature is funny like that... We are always searching for that which we can't, or rather, don't have. We become so engrossed in the pursuit that we forget about those things, those people, those moments that could've meant happiness.

We live our lives in the hope that things will get better, that we will achieve those things which we think are the keys to our happiness... Yet, once achieved we are so tired from the struggle of getting there that all is lost. Until we identify another object to focus our attention on.

And... While you're out there, trying to chase that which interests you for just a moment, I'm in here... Living with the hope that one day you will see that I can be good enough.

One day...

- My travels to India and Dubai were absolutely amazing! I saw a completely different world to mine and it felt great!! It's so fascinating how cultures can be so diverse.

- It's my birthday tomorrow! My motto for my new phase of life is, "23 and feeling free". I am celebrating my birthday with family and friends by going out on an adventure trail. The day will consist of hiking, cycling and canoeing... so excited! I'm so grateful to God that I've made it to see yet another year.

- Finally, I bought myself a birthday gift (because I felt that I really deserved it lol) and its a Samsung S4! Super stoked that I'll be able to take amazing pics now... Can't wait to collect it later today!

Have a great weekend...

Celebrate the Small Things

This week I'm posting a day early...

Friday has finally arrived and it's time for "Celebrate The Small Things", a bloghop hosted by Viklit from Scribblings Of An Aspiring Author. Each week people from all over the world share about the things they are celebrating for the week. Big or small, if it made you happy, share it. Sign up!

This week I'm celebrating....

* I'm about to fly off to India and Dubai (hence the early post)... Super excited! I just hope the rain holds up in India.
* I registered as an organ donor! In case I don't make it back from my trip, my organs will hopefully save someone's life or give a mother some time with her child or husband... Greatest feeling in the world
* It's my best friends birthday! She's such a blessing in my life, I cannot begin to imagine my life without her. Happy Birthday Alyssa :)
* I posted a short piece on Monday called TANGO, and it felt amazing knowing that bloggers enjoyed reading it.

That's all for me... Let's hear what you're celebrating this week! Have a great weekend!!

Express Yourself - Bands / Singer / Group

The Express Yourself meme is co-hosted by Dani and Jackie. Each week bloggers answer a different question, so they can get to know each other better.

This week's Express Yourself Question is:

"What Band/Singer/Group would be featured most in your WIP and/or Life?"

When it comes to music, I am a fan of so many bands it's ridiculous. The ones that stand out for me are:

* Sade - they are by far thee most timeless band! I can listen to them all day, everyday.
* Cold Play - when ever I feel happy, sad, angry, hungry, or just bored.... Cold Play is the only band that can fit any mood!
* 340ml - they are a afro-jazz band from Mozambique. If I had to choose, they would definitely win! Hands down! It could be because they are local, but it also could be because their sounds reach deep down into my soul!!! I heart 340ml...

The Trill Of It All Blog Fest

I am participating in a Blog Fest, hosted by taratylertalks. Visit her page to find out more.

TANGO - 342 words

As I approach the old stiff door, my hands are shaking with anxiety and liberation all at the same time. I only wish I had more courage at the times when I needed it the most.

I clear my throat nervously as I sit in the dark room. My eyes scan the area, looking for any open spaces which could lead to a breach of confidentiality. The dark room brings back memories of entrapment and discomfort. Although it’s difficult to bear, it’s something that I have to do.

Suddenly, the old wooden door creeks open, but from the other side. The presence immediately demands respect and attention, communicating to my soul on a subconscious level. I can smell him from where I’m sitting. The scent is not one I wish to store in my memory. I know this process all too well. It’s time to begin…

“Forgive me Father for I have sinned.”

“My last confession was 12 years ago”.

“You see, I’m having some difficulty complying with the standards society has set for my generation. Society demands so much yet gives me absolutely nothing in return.”

“There are these choices that I’m faced with, most are associated with physical desires and insecure mockery, determined to derail me from who I truly am. You see Father, I’m faced with the decision of choosing blue eyes over hazel; tanned and exotic skin over fair and porcelain; passionate and lustful desire over respectful and graceful.”

“Society demands that I should be concerned with the opinion of my neighbour, or the lifestyle of the rich and famous. Somewhere deep within me, my soul is at war.”

“I’ve chosen to emancipate myself from the clutches of societal pressure, to showcase the new me, to show others that I am not afraid to take chances and put myself out there, to love without limits.”

“However, this is where the problem comes in…”

“Forgive me Father for I have sinned.”

“I am in love with two men, and I don’t plan on letting either of them go.”

Express Yourself Meme - Questions???

The Express Yourself meme is co-hosted by Dani and Jackie. Each week bloggers answer a different question, so they can get to know each other better.
This week's question is: What questions do you get asked time and time again?

What race are you?  I probably hear this question everyday. In my country, South Africa, people who are mixed race really can choose to be a different race everyday. Often people mistaken me for Caucasian or sometimes Indian. Not sure what it is that's giving them this seriously twisted perception, but when I'm in the mood for a good laugh, I simply put on an accent. Yesterday I was Brazilian, tomorrow I think I'll be British.
Why aren't you married yet? This question brings me nothing but hysterical laughter. I can never understand why people think that being married is the only journey one can follow in life.. Never mind the fact that you first need to find a partner to get married, I'm still struggling to look after myself... There's no way I'd still manage to look after one more person just yet.

Celebrate the Small Things

Sorry for the delay with my post... Been battling to find some time to just sit and write.. Here goes, this is for Friday 21 June 2013.

1. The happiness that I felt after being so warmly welcomed by fellow bloggers
2. A short week! Sunday was a public holiday which meant Monday was actually a FUNDAY!
3. Just got my ticket for Dubai and India, I will be leaving on Thursday for business.. Never been to India so I'm super excited to learn more about the culture. I plan to indulge in all that the country has to offer. This will definitely be documented in my journal!
4.  Pampered Pensioners is expanding and will soon be registered as a Non-Profit Organisation. We are planning another Pamper Day soon, the old gal's cannot wait... They love the attention. This truly is the best gift of all, food for the soul!

My inspirational quote for the week, "life isn't about how you survived the storm... it's about how you danced in the rain!"

That's all from me. Have a great weekend!

Celebrate The Small Things

This Friday, I am participating in my first bloghop called Celebrate The Small Things. Its hosted by Viklit from Scribblings Of An Aspiring Author. and each week everyone just basically makes mention of the things that have brought them joy for the week. Here goes...

1. I am celebrating the fact that I am a virgin blogger. I am discovering a whole new cyber world that never sleeps. Loving every second of it!! A huge thank you to Michelle @ Writer-in-transit for making it all happen and giving me some much needed tips.

2. I have been spoiled with a full spa day, as an incentive from my boss for all my hard work.

3. I didn't dismiss anyone this week (this is especially awesome considering that I am in Human Resources and practically dismiss someone every other day)

4. My friend and I have started an initiative called Pampered Pensioners. What we basically do is, once a month, we spoil the old gal's from the old aged home with a little TLC by doing their hands and feet.

That's all for now, but I am certain the weekend has plenty more in store...

Have a good one!

Express Yourself - Movies

The Express Yourself meme is co-hosted by Dani and Jackie. Each week bloggers answer a different question, so they can get to know each other better.
This week's question is: What are the last two movies you saw?

So, I am quite the movie junkie...
The last two movies I saw was Fast and Furious 6 and Side Effects.

Honestly, both were absolutely amazing! If you're looking for eye candy and action, watch Fast 6... BUT, if you're looking for something to mess with your brain, watch Side Effects! I absolutely loved it and have officially made it my favourite movie of 2013!

Fast 6 is great to watch with a group of friends, especially if you're into special effects. Nevermind Vin Diesel and Dewayne Johnson, look out for Luke Evans who plays Shaw in Fast... His all sorts of yummy!

Side Effects stars Jude Law and his gorgeous British accent.. I don't want to divulge too much about the story line because I'd like it to surprise you like it did for me!

I'd like to add that this is my first time blogging.... #virginblogger <3
