Celebrate the Small Things

This week I'm posting a day early...

Friday has finally arrived and it's time for "Celebrate The Small Things", a bloghop hosted by Viklit from Scribblings Of An Aspiring Author. Each week people from all over the world share about the things they are celebrating for the week. Big or small, if it made you happy, share it. Sign up!

This week I'm celebrating....

* I'm about to fly off to India and Dubai (hence the early post)... Super excited! I just hope the rain holds up in India.
* I registered as an organ donor! In case I don't make it back from my trip, my organs will hopefully save someone's life or give a mother some time with her child or husband... Greatest feeling in the world
* It's my best friends birthday! She's such a blessing in my life, I cannot begin to imagine my life without her. Happy Birthday Alyssa :)
* I posted a short piece on Monday called TANGO, and it felt amazing knowing that bloggers enjoyed reading it.

That's all for me... Let's hear what you're celebrating this week! Have a great weekend!!

Express Yourself - Bands / Singer / Group

The Express Yourself meme is co-hosted by Dani and Jackie. Each week bloggers answer a different question, so they can get to know each other better.

This week's Express Yourself Question is:

"What Band/Singer/Group would be featured most in your WIP and/or Life?"

When it comes to music, I am a fan of so many bands it's ridiculous. The ones that stand out for me are:

* Sade - they are by far thee most timeless band! I can listen to them all day, everyday.
* Cold Play - when ever I feel happy, sad, angry, hungry, or just bored.... Cold Play is the only band that can fit any mood!
* 340ml - they are a afro-jazz band from Mozambique. If I had to choose, they would definitely win! Hands down! It could be because they are local, but it also could be because their sounds reach deep down into my soul!!! I heart 340ml...

The Trill Of It All Blog Fest

I am participating in a Blog Fest, hosted by taratylertalks. Visit her page to find out more.

TANGO - 342 words

As I approach the old stiff door, my hands are shaking with anxiety and liberation all at the same time. I only wish I had more courage at the times when I needed it the most.

I clear my throat nervously as I sit in the dark room. My eyes scan the area, looking for any open spaces which could lead to a breach of confidentiality. The dark room brings back memories of entrapment and discomfort. Although it’s difficult to bear, it’s something that I have to do.

Suddenly, the old wooden door creeks open, but from the other side. The presence immediately demands respect and attention, communicating to my soul on a subconscious level. I can smell him from where I’m sitting. The scent is not one I wish to store in my memory. I know this process all too well. It’s time to begin…

“Forgive me Father for I have sinned.”

“My last confession was 12 years ago”.

“You see, I’m having some difficulty complying with the standards society has set for my generation. Society demands so much yet gives me absolutely nothing in return.”

“There are these choices that I’m faced with, most are associated with physical desires and insecure mockery, determined to derail me from who I truly am. You see Father, I’m faced with the decision of choosing blue eyes over hazel; tanned and exotic skin over fair and porcelain; passionate and lustful desire over respectful and graceful.”

“Society demands that I should be concerned with the opinion of my neighbour, or the lifestyle of the rich and famous. Somewhere deep within me, my soul is at war.”

“I’ve chosen to emancipate myself from the clutches of societal pressure, to showcase the new me, to show others that I am not afraid to take chances and put myself out there, to love without limits.”

“However, this is where the problem comes in…”

“Forgive me Father for I have sinned.”

“I am in love with two men, and I don’t plan on letting either of them go.”

Express Yourself Meme - Questions???

The Express Yourself meme is co-hosted by Dani and Jackie. Each week bloggers answer a different question, so they can get to know each other better.
This week's question is: What questions do you get asked time and time again?

What race are you?  I probably hear this question everyday. In my country, South Africa, people who are mixed race really can choose to be a different race everyday. Often people mistaken me for Caucasian or sometimes Indian. Not sure what it is that's giving them this seriously twisted perception, but when I'm in the mood for a good laugh, I simply put on an accent. Yesterday I was Brazilian, tomorrow I think I'll be British.
Why aren't you married yet? This question brings me nothing but hysterical laughter. I can never understand why people think that being married is the only journey one can follow in life.. Never mind the fact that you first need to find a partner to get married, I'm still struggling to look after myself... There's no way I'd still manage to look after one more person just yet.

Celebrate the Small Things

Sorry for the delay with my post... Been battling to find some time to just sit and write.. Here goes, this is for Friday 21 June 2013.

1. The happiness that I felt after being so warmly welcomed by fellow bloggers
2. A short week! Sunday was a public holiday which meant Monday was actually a FUNDAY!
3. Just got my ticket for Dubai and India, I will be leaving on Thursday for business.. Never been to India so I'm super excited to learn more about the culture. I plan to indulge in all that the country has to offer. This will definitely be documented in my journal!
4.  Pampered Pensioners is expanding and will soon be registered as a Non-Profit Organisation. We are planning another Pamper Day soon, the old gal's cannot wait... They love the attention. This truly is the best gift of all, food for the soul!

My inspirational quote for the week, "life isn't about how you survived the storm... it's about how you danced in the rain!"

That's all from me. Have a great weekend!

Celebrate The Small Things

This Friday, I am participating in my first bloghop called Celebrate The Small Things. Its hosted by Viklit from Scribblings Of An Aspiring Author. and each week everyone just basically makes mention of the things that have brought them joy for the week. Here goes...

1. I am celebrating the fact that I am a virgin blogger. I am discovering a whole new cyber world that never sleeps. Loving every second of it!! A huge thank you to Michelle @ Writer-in-transit for making it all happen and giving me some much needed tips.

2. I have been spoiled with a full spa day, as an incentive from my boss for all my hard work.

3. I didn't dismiss anyone this week (this is especially awesome considering that I am in Human Resources and practically dismiss someone every other day)

4. My friend and I have started an initiative called Pampered Pensioners. What we basically do is, once a month, we spoil the old gal's from the old aged home with a little TLC by doing their hands and feet.

That's all for now, but I am certain the weekend has plenty more in store...

Have a good one!

Express Yourself - Movies

The Express Yourself meme is co-hosted by Dani and Jackie. Each week bloggers answer a different question, so they can get to know each other better.
This week's question is: What are the last two movies you saw?

So, I am quite the movie junkie...
The last two movies I saw was Fast and Furious 6 and Side Effects.

Honestly, both were absolutely amazing! If you're looking for eye candy and action, watch Fast 6... BUT, if you're looking for something to mess with your brain, watch Side Effects! I absolutely loved it and have officially made it my favourite movie of 2013!

Fast 6 is great to watch with a group of friends, especially if you're into special effects. Nevermind Vin Diesel and Dewayne Johnson, look out for Luke Evans who plays Shaw in Fast... His all sorts of yummy!

Side Effects stars Jude Law and his gorgeous British accent.. I don't want to divulge too much about the story line because I'd like it to surprise you like it did for me!

I'd like to add that this is my first time blogging.... #virginblogger <3
